Note to community members

Many are residents have expressed health concerns regarding the tower and the microwave radiation that it will emit. Unfortunately, the FCC considers the data inconclusive. Thus, these arguments are not recognized. However frustrating this fact may be, we urge you to focus your complaints / concerns on the following issues:

1) Aesthetics

2) Use

3) Height

Mark (the author of this site) said it best when he expressed concern about Venice's/the Oxford Triangle's reputation as a beach community. To summarize his point, we should focus our attention on supporting local businesses in order to boost tourism and to attract additional business by creating/maintaining an environment that is visually welcoming. The construction of a massive cell phone base tower would obviously not serve to accomplish these goals and would arguably make us even less competitive than we already are.

Exactly. How are we supposed to compete with Santa Monica when our main beach blvd. looks so industrial? Our goal should be attracting beach tourism and part of the attraction is the aesthetics. When people want palm trees they don't want plastic palm trees on the roof of a hotel. Abbot Kinney has come a long way. Look how popular that area has become and how real estate has improved in the last 10 years.
